The Great Manifestation

The Great Manifestation, commonly known as Hollow Friday, was an event which occurred on Friday, August 6, 1971⁽ᵃ⁾. That evening⁽ᵃ⁾, spectres (See Visitors) of undeniable tangibility first appeared in great numbers to various locations around the world⁽ᵃ ᵇ⁾. The most pronounced of these was within the United Kingdom⁽ᵃ ᵇ⁾ (See Great Britain and The Isles), although areas within Greenland⁽ᵃ ᵇ⁾ (See Scandinavian Nations Bloc), Malaysia⁽ᶜ⁾, New Zealand⁽ᵃ ᵇ⁾ , and Turkey⁽ᵃ ᵇ⁾ also experienced some psychic phenomena.

The event was notable for being the first mass visitation of spectres, as well as being responsible for the deaths of 18,971 people⁽ᵃ⁾ via Cold Kiss, including Queen Elizabeth II⁽ᶠ⁾, and the injuring of thousands more⁽ᵈ⁾. The event also gave rise to substantial long-term health consequences and caused mass property damage⁽ᵈ⁾.

In response to the incident, world governments mobilised aid to the affected countries, and the field known as paranormal research began to be regarded as a legitimate branch of scientific enquiry⁽ᵈ⁾. In part, the event lead to the founding of the IPP (Institute for Parapsychic Phenomena)⁽ᵉ⁾, as well as the USSR's Division F⁽ᵍ⁾.

The exact cause remains unknown⁽ᵉ⁾, although several prominent theories have been presented.
